August 2004 Newsletter No. 33
Sunday, August 1st, 2004In This Issue:
We are playing a bit of catch-up ball with this issue. Normally there would have been an issue of AWOnews in early May, but unfortunately your editor contracted a rather nasty bug shortly after the last issue went out, and recovery was rather slow. Consequently the Spring issue fell by the wayside. Our apologies for this, and we hope that this issue makes up for that, at least in part.
As you know, since last November AWOnews has been produced in electronic form only due to the cost of distributing a paper version, and this policy was confirmed at the meeting of club reps in peterborough in June. If there is a member of AWO who you know does not have access to the Internet, it would be helpful if club Reps or their designate could ensure that someone prints off a copy for them so that they are also “in the loop” on upcoming and past events.
Peterborough was another terrific weekend, from all accounts, even if the turn-out was disappointing low; and there were a number of relatively new faces taking medals for their excellent wines. This was followed, of course, by the Canadian finals, and we include herein a summary of those awards which went to Ontario entries.
Further information also on Festival 2005, coming next June to London, as well as the wise words of our President, and information on a new vineyard in the Peterborough area.
Congratulations to the Organizers of Festival 2004, and to all winners in both the AWO Competition and the Canadian finals!
